Duygu Julia Akdag

Duygu Akdag is an associate in Quinn Emanuel's Zurich office, which she was instrumental in establishing and expanding.

Her practice focuses on complex international and national litigation as well as insolvency law. She also has extensive experience in arbitration and white collar matters.

In the field of dispute resolution, Ms. Akdag currently represents, among others, Lion Point Capital and its Swiss company Piodina AG in a liability dispute against Ernst & Young worth CHF 5.5 billion. She also represents a large number of AT1 bondholders holding multiple billions in AT1 bonds in connection with the takeover of Credit Suisse by UBS. In addition, she currently represents (i) an heir in a national inheritance dispute concerning an estate exceeding CHF 1.5 billion; (ii) a venture capital fund and a family office in a significant corporate-governance dispute; and (iii) a client in a contract dispute worth EUR 300 million.

Her further and past matters include representing the majority shareholder of Sika AG in a highly complex and economically significant takeover battle. In addition, she has acted for (i) an heir in a cross-border inheritance dispute worth CHF 10 billion; (ii) a leading sports media-rights agency in a dispute worth approximately USD 1 billion; and (iii) the investment vehicle of an ultra-high-net-worth individual in a fraud case worth EUR 750 million.

In the field of white collar investigations, her experience includes work on the FIFA and PdVSA investigations, as well as matters arising under the US-Swiss Banks Program.

Prior to joining Quinn Emanuel, Ms. Akdag worked at the European Parliament in Brussels and as a legal intern in the Executive Office of the UN Secretary-General in New York.

She holds an LL.M. from the London School of Economics and Political Science (LSE) as well as a master's and a bachelor's degree from the University of Fribourg in Switzerland.
