Peter Collins

Peter Collins is a senior associate in Quinn Emanuel's New York office. He joined the firm in 2018 after graduating from Stanford Law School.

Peter specializes in general commercial litigation with a particular focus on high-stakes, bet-the-company M&A litigation. His practice encompasses complex, often highly expedited commercial disputes that demand creative legal strategies and exceptional advocacy under intense time pressure.

Peter has played pivotal strategic and brief-writing roles in several of the firm's most significant M&A litigations. His work was instrumental in securing critical discovery victories In Twitter, Inc. v. Musk, No. 2022-0613-KSJM (Del. Ch. 2022), including successfully defending attorney-client privilege for Elon Musk’s communications with counsel against Twitter’s attempts to pierce the privilege based on Musk's use of Tesla and SpaceX email to discuss the acquisition. In Desktop Metal, Inc. v. Nano Dimension Ltd., No. 2024-1303-KSJM (Del. Ch. 2025), Peter helped secure a groundbreaking victory, winning specific performance for the client including an order requiring the opposing party to sign a national security agreement with CFIUS—believed to be the first Delaware case ever to award specific performance of a regulatory efforts covenant. Known for developing novel legal arguments that reshape case narratives, Peter has earned a reputation for crafting clear, persuasive briefs that deliver winning results in make-or-break corporate disputes.

Beyond his brief-writing and appellate work, Peter is a versatile, experienced commercial litigator who runs cases, manages complex discovery, and has taken dozens of depositions.

Peter also plays a leading role in the firm’s artificial intelligence initiatives. His comprehensive knowledge of generative AI litigation tools enables his teams to leverage cutting-edge technology to build powerful factual and legal support for clients' cases, bringing unprecedented efficiency and depth to case analysis and strategy development.

Peter’s representative clients include some of the most prominent names in business and entertainment, including Elon Musk, Shawn “Jay-Z” Carter, Dr. Mark Rachesky, Elliott Investment Management, and Standard Industries. Peter has also performed extensive work for clients in the cryptocurrency industry, including FTX Trading Ltd., Core Scientific Inc., and Binance founder Changpeng Zhao.
