Lisa Geary

Lisa Geary is an experienced appellate litigator who rejoined Quinn Emanuel in 2024 as Of Counsel.  Her practice focuses on appeals and dispositive motions in complex commercial disputes.

Lisa has handled appeals on a broad range of subject matters, including federal-officer removal, intellectual property, products liability, contract disputes, bankruptcy, class actions, and constitutional law. She has secured appellate victories in state and federal appellate courts, including a recent win in the United States Court of Appeals for the Eighth Circuit vacating a damages award against her client, a publicly traded international company, in a breach of contract case. In 2024, she obtained a complete appellate reversal of a summary judgment ruling against her clients in a shareholder derivative suit against a closely-held company in Arkansas. She has particular expertise in the New York Court of Appeals and the United States Courts of Appeals. Lisa has also represented clients in merits cases and petitions for certiorari in the Supreme Court of the United States.

In addition to her appellate experience, Lisa has also successfully prepared and argued critical motions that either secure early victory for her clients or result in important, pre-trial rulings that set the stage for victory at trial. Recently, she was part of a trial team that obtained a jury verdict on behalf of a Fortune 5 company defending an employment discrimination suit. In 2021 and 2022, she was part of a trial team that successfully defended an executive charged with criminal antitrust violations for fixing prices and rigging bids in the poultry industry. And in 2025, she obtained dismissal of public-nuisance and RICO claims against Express Scripts in connection with prescription opioids.

Lisa began her career in private practice in 2018 as an Associate in Quinn Emanuel’s New York Office. Before then, she clerked for the Honorable Richard C. Wesley on the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Second Circuit and the Honorable Susan Phillips Read and Eugene F. Pigott, Jr., on the New York Court of Appeals.
