Kadry Zaghawa is Of Counsel in Quinn Emanuel's Dubai and Abu Dhabi offices. He is a seasoned disputes lawyer with more than three decades of experience advising and representing clients across the Middle East, with particular depth in the law, courts, and procedures of the United Arab Emirates. He has practised for 34 years, 31 of them in the UAE, developing a comprehensive command of Emirati substantive law and court procedure at every level of the federal and local court systems. Kadry is also admitted to practise, with rights of audience, before all Egyptian courts at all levels, and combines the rigour of a civil-law advocate with the practical, cross-border perspective demanded by the UAE's international disputes market.
Kadry's litigation practice spans shipping, aviation, commercial, and banking disputes. He has represented high-profile GCC corporates and international clients in complex, high-value litigation before all levels of the UAE courts, and has advised clients on resolving disputes through arbitration and other alternative dispute resolution mechanisms.
Beyond his core litigation work, Kadry has built a distinct reputation in restructuring, bankruptcy, and insolvency, offering critical guidance in complex financial restructurings and distressed situations, and has helped lead some of the largest restructuring matters in the region. He is regularly instructed to provide expert opinions on UAE law in proceedings before foreign courts, and is well regarded as one of the most prominent and strategic Arabic drafters in the UAE.
Kadry earned his Bachelor of Laws (LL.B.) from Alexandria University in Egypt. Early in his career, he practised as a lawyer and legal adviser in the legal department of land reclamation companies in the Arab Republic of Egypt, before moving into private practice.
Prior to joining Quinn Emanuel, Kadry practised at several well-regarded law firms in the UAE, most recently as a partner in the dispute resolution team of one such firm.
